Parents counselling
This module will be recommended when dynamics are identified within the family that are affecting the well being of the young person or when the family itself is suffering.
This intervention is lead by Elizabeth Howell who is an experienced counsellor having built a special interest in supporting parents through their journey with their troubled teenager.
This therapeutic intervention is designed around meetings with parents. This will include counselling for parents but often this forum can be used to facilitate communication between a young person and their parents i.e. written input from the teenager may be incorporated to the meeting with parents. This written work will be composed by the young person with the support of his individual therapist.
Parents requiring specific emotional support for themselves can also find the required support in this package. It is underestimated how teenage mental health breakdowns affect parents and the general family system.
Families who have opted for this support have been identified to recover more positively. The engagement with this service can be discussed and considered at any stage of the treatment.
